It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dr. Flower Msuya, a founding and pivotal member of the Global Seaweed Coalition since its inception.

Dr. Msuya’s work has inspired and shaped a whole generation, including the young generation of Tanzanian seaweed scientists and workers who looked to her for guidance and leadership. It is also a great new loss for the GSC Scientific Council, following the passing of Professor Thierry Chopin last year. Her passing leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who knew her.

The GSC is committed to honoring Dr. Msuya’s legacy by continuing to support the work and vision she so passionately championed.
